Welcome… The Sunshine District is an association of Florida Chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society and is committed to the promotion of Barbershop music to the public and to the musical and administrative training and education of its membership. Member Chapter choruses and quartets are encouraged to perform throughout their communities in support of worthwhile civic, cultural, educational, and charitable endeavors. The Sunshine District is comprised of over 1800 members in Chapters from Miami to Pensacola. The Sunshine District leads the nation in promoting the musical excellence of Barbershop harmony in our schools and communities. “Singing is Great in the Sunshine State!” Schedule: (start times subject to change slightly; the District website www.sunshinedistrict.org will be updated as we near the dates) Friday October 27th, 2017- 10:00am SUN BOD District Board of Directors Meeting 2:00pm SUN HOD House of Delegates Meeting (Capri) 7:00pm 2016 Sunshine District quartet semifinals (competing for District Championship), Seniors Quartet qualification for Midwinter (Orange County, CA.), and Mixed Quartet Contests. ***Following quartet semifinals, The Sunshine Association of District Quartet Champions Show (SDAQC) will take place- featuring SUN's very own Keepsake, celebrating their 25th anniversary of winning the gold! Saturday October 28th, 2017- 11:00am – 2016 BHS Chorus Contest (qualifying round for BHS-ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL 2018) & Combined Chorus Contest, plus Sunshine's debut of it's All-Seniors Chorus (55 and up, qualifying for Midwinter!) **SUN District Awards following Chorus Contests 4:30-5:30pm President's Council Reception (Capri-cash bar) 7:00pm 2016 Sunshine District Quartet Championship Immediately following quartets: -Show of Champions, featuring our newly crowned SUN Quartet Champion *SUNglow (afterglow) following Champs Show (Capri) will continue the singing and general frivolities. ALL quartets and choruses are invited to perform at the SUNglow! DONATIONS APPRECIATED at checkout! **Anyone competing on stage MUST have a paid All Events registration** -All passes are non-refundable, but ARE transferrable. And now, the nitty-gritty: -You will get a confirmation with your ticket purchase, and an email will be sent to you 48 hours before the event begins. It will be sent to the email address that you purchased your tickets with. -Individual tickets for each event will be included with your packet at the registration table.The most popular "All Events Pass" will be a single color-coded ticket valid for all events. -Marriott Hotel price/food options… When purchasing your hotel room (seperate link at www.sunshinedistrict.org), choose either a standard rate of 9/night, or 9/night which includes breakfast buffet vouchers for two (2) people at The Crimson Tavern, per night. Breakfast vouchers will be distributed at check in for those choosing the 9/night option. Once you purchase the rate, there is NOT an upgrade option at checkin, and you may NOT purchase breakfast vouchers seperately when you arrive onsite. You may call the hotel before arrival to change your room rate if you wish (407) 851-9000. Please note: if you have more than two people in your room, only two vouchers per room, per night will be given. -We are continuing the "Family Plan" for families with multiple children (includes two adults and up to six/6 children under the age of 16 years). Use this price point to bring the kids and grandkids (and all of their singing friends) for the weekend, and get them hooked on our hobby…the more the merrier! Simply select this ticket type, and upon checkout, you'll be able to enter the names of the two (2) adults and up to six (6) children. -INFO: Parking at The Marriott: when booking your hotel room at The Marriott, the website mentions parking fees. Please don't be confused; these parking fees are waived for our Convention Attendees that are registered Marriott Hotel guests, and will not be on your final bill. Non hotel patrons will be charged for parking, or you may valet -50 Year BHS Members may purchase a discounted ticket for themselves, as well as a discounted ticket for one (1) guest. The price is .00 for each ticket. 50 Year Members will have a reserved block of seats towards the front of the ballroom (for the member and one guest). -First Timers, Presidents Council Members & Hall of Fame, as always, have a reserved block of seating in the front of the ballroom. Please be sure to indicate if you fall into one of these groups at checkout! -At checkout, name badges will be available for you to create. Please- bring your lanyards. They'll also be available for .00 at check in. Single event tickets are not valid for competitors. Each competitor on stage MUST purchase an All Events Pass. NO EXCEPTIONS. Some regular price passes (and all late tickets) may need to be printed on site. We will be updating those social media sites continually as we near the Convention date. *** GET UP TO DATE, REAL TIME INFORMATION LEADING UP TO CONVENTION & THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND **** 1) SEND A TEXT MESSAGE TO 81010 2) IN THE BODY OF THE TEXT, TYPE "@SUNSHINEDI" (NO QUOTATIONS) FAQs – Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? ALL SUN and BHS competitors MUST have an All Events Pass and be a BHS member in good standing to be on stage. Mixed Quartet members may be "unaffiliated". ALL single events tickets will now have an event specific color-coded pass. Only the ticket allows entry, not your name badge. The All Event Pass is just that- a single ticket, color-coded to allow entry to all events. – What can/can't I bring to the event? DO bring your unbridled support for every person that graces our stage! DON'T use any recording devices in the Ballroom during an Event/Contest. – Is my registration/ticket transferrable? YES; if you will not be using your ticket(s), you may alert us to transfer names if you'd like someone else to use it. Registrations are NOT refundable, and it is your responsibility to transfer them to another person if you will be unable to use them. Your Convention Team will be happy to help with the physical transfer, but will not act as your "ticket broker"! Will Name Tags/Badges still be available? YES. Name badges will be printed and ready with your tickets. You should have kept your own lanyard for re-use. If not, they will be for sale at the registration table for .00. – Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event to get in? YES. Each event this year will have its own unique ticket. Tickets will be distributed upon check in/registration, and may also be purchased on site/at the door. Your name badge does not act as a ticket. – What is the refund policy? As District policy, Refunds are not allowed. Tickets/passes can be transferred to another member or attendee. – The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay? Tickets will be color coded per event. The ticket gets you in the door, not your name badge. Each person entering the ballroom must have their own ticket or pass. – I'm a competitor. Will my "All Event Pass" be checked? All competitors MUST purchase an All Event Pass (Regular, Student, or 50 Year). Quartets will be checked prior to going on stage. Chorus members will be certified by your Secratary AND checked as a group prior to going on stage. – What's the recommended donation amount for the Saturday Afterglow (optional)?.00 per person would be a wonderful starting point. Feel free to donate more if you wish. The food and drink provided is enjoyed by many, many people for this Saturday night Afterglow that closes out our weekend . If you are one of the people attending and partaking, your donation is greatly appreciated. Again, this is totally optional. "The fine print"…for those that are just in the mood to read more stuff: – Student All Events Passes are valid for those who have not celebrated their 26th birthday. – 50-Year Member All Events Pass pricing is valid for 50 Year BHS Members, and the same price will be honored for one (1) guest. Each guest at this price point must purchase a pass. Reserved block seating with Presidents Council, First Timers, and SUN Hall of Fame Members for the 50 year BHS member and one (1) guest. -Single event tickets are not valid for competitors. Each competitor MUST purchase an All Events Registration (Adult, Student, or 50-Year). -THE DISTRICT HAS A NO REFUND POLICY ON ALL SALES. HOWEVER, ALL TICKETS ARE TRANSFERRABLE. You will be emailed with your ticket receipt and QF Code at the time of purchase and again 48 hours before the event begins. Early Bird Passes will be ready upon arrival at the registration booth. Each event will have an individual ticket that will be in your registration packet. All Events Passes will have their own individual ticket for all-access to all events.
