The course environment is relaxed and reassuring, and you will be able to share your story with me if you want to, and ask questions. 4 Noted Benefits of Using the F.E.A.R Model The following benefits have been gathered from both the sufferers and professionals who have used the F.E.A.R model either as a self-help tool or as a model for helping clients: Health and fitness. The FEAR Model helps restore the body to function as intended. Emotional stress and anxiety messes up the nervous system, increases emotional fatigue and degenerates the body quickly. By using the FEAR model steps regularly, you’ll achieve heightened emotional well-being , a higher level of energy, creativity, and greater life satisfaction. A sufferer who recently went through the course wrote the following feedback, “Very good, informative, eye and mind opening. I wish I had known all that 20 years ago. It would have made my life much easier and successful.” Also, since anxiety and stress often speed up body degeneration, looking a lot younger has also been noted among regular users of the FEAR model steps. The FEAR Model steps can also be adapted to bring about natural weight loss by transforming the emotional and mental pathways that reinforce weight-gain in the brain. Personal transformation. The FEAR model takes you or your client to a new, higher level regarding emotional wellbeing, work, relationship and makes you a different person in many ways. We become what we think about all the time. Once your thought-life has been transformed, life transformation is inevitable. A course attendee shared this testimonial recently. “I am a mum of an anxious teenager (OCD). I now have a few more tools in my kit bag. Thought-provoking. Simple techniques for what may be complex problems, but doable steps to recovery.” Personal Growth, Influence and Recognition. If you are a therapist in practice, most clients that will come to you are more likely to have received two or more therapy interventions in the past. They have come to you to see if you offer anything different and long-lasting from what they have experienced in the past. Mastering The FEAR model sets you apart from the pack by offering your clients a simple system that offers transformation and long-lasting effect than they have experienced in the past. This builds credibility, recognition and expands your practice, as a very happy client often tells as least 3 other prospects. Your clients will value and respect you more for your helpful insight and attention to details. All of these benefits come as a result of your desire for personal growth to explore the FEAR model. “The course was extremely helpful and informative. Interesting, excellent and enjoyable. It enables me to help so many adults and children within the support groups I run,” J. Morgan, Parent Rep and Support Group Facilitator It saves money and increases practice turn-over. Many sufferers who have gone through the FEAR model course wished they had attended the course many years ago, as this would have saved them not just a lot of money but also time and a lot of emotional and physical pain. As a therapist in practice, we know that word of mouth is the most effective advertising tool especially for therapists in practice. This can translate to more organic referrals from transformed and happy clients, leading to the increase in your turn-over as a practitioner. If you feel this course can benefit you or any of your family members, friends or colleagues, why don't you let them know about the event and give it a try? Those who have attended the event in the past always said that they were glad they made the investment even though they were a little bit unsure at the start (See previous attendees feedback below)… WHY IS THE EVENT SUBSIDISED AND WHAT'S THE CATCH? The first reason this course is subsidised is networking. Relationships are very important. In a live event like this, there is ample opportunity to connect with like-minded people, share experiences, get motivated and discover what is working for others. I have been able to meet and connect with some amazing people in events such as this one. The second reason why this is a subsidised event is the feedback that we get from our attendees. This is extremely useful. It helps us improve our courses and get better in serving others. WHAT TO DO NEXT All you need to do is to register your ticket to attend this event now.  The event is expected to be oversubscribed as there are very limited spaces. So book your seat now. Introduction: Generalised anxiety and panic disorder are often two of the easily noticeable signs of deep-seated issues. And if not treated properly, more complicated anxiety disorder outlets are inevitable. Studies have shown that nearly a quarter of the adult population will suffer from an anxiety disorder at some point in their life. Yet only a small percentage of these people actually receive effective treatments that deal with the root causes of anxiety and panic disorders. Perhaps, you yourself as a therapist or client, have seen people who have been through most of the mainstream anxiety recovery programmes with little or no improvement. The real epidemic is not the disorder itself, but our inability to provide adequate recovery treatment that focuses on unearthing the underlying root causes and permanently transforming the sufferers. In an era where too much attention has been given to antidepressants prescriptions and on the coping mechanisms that temporarily numb the symptoms as opposed to eliminating them, there is a vital need for a recovery programme that promises transformation, which every anxiety patient in our societies deserves. Hopefully, you will be able to join us for this event.I look forward to seeing you there,Best regardsWale OladipoLead Coach & Therapist, Mind Body Breakthrough Terms and Conditions Cancellation: Cancellation charges are applied in all cases. Since its beginnings in the late 1990s, the Hot Club of Cowtowns star has continued to rise as its reputation for jaw-dropping virtuosity and unforgettable live shows has become the bands global brand. Lauded for its down-home melodies and exuberant improvisation (The Times, London), the Hot Club has always woven a combination of seemingly disparate styles together to its own magical effect, setting up camp at that crossroads where country meets jazz and chases the blues away (The Independent), remaining conscious always that above all else, the music is for dancing and an old-fashioned good time (New York Times). The bands musical alchemy has been described as another breathless journey in the Texas tardis (The Times, London), while American Songwriter observed that the excellent three players of this band could be doing anything but have chosen to honor the greats of jazz and swing with their sound. The Belfast Telegraph calls the Hot Club of Cowtown a pretty much perfect country trio at the very top of their game, and the New York Times, in a live review the trio as armed with an arsenal full of technique and joy. Along with the Hot Clubs dedicated cult following worldwide they have toured for the U.S. State Department as musical ambassadors to Azerbaijan, Armenia, the Republic of Georgia and the Sultanate of Oman certain titans of the industry have also taken notice. Bob Dylan, with whom the band toured and with whom James has toured and recorded, is a continuing inspiration. The Hot Club has opened several shows for Willie Nelson, toured with Nelson and Dylan during a summer-long stadium tour, and recently opened seven nights of Roxy Musics sold-out For Your Pleasure U.K. stadium tour. In the U.K. the Hot Club of Cowtown continues to tour extensively and has been featured at the Glastonbury Festival and has also been a returning guest on Later With Jools Holland, the Cambridge Folk Festival, and BBC Radio 2s Radcliffe and Maconie and Bob Harris Country shows.

Jackopierce w/ Marie Miller

Jackopierce w/ Marie Miller
Event on 2017-10-29 00:00:00

In 1988, Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce, the "Jack O" and "Pierce" who make up the seminal acoustic duo, Jackopierce, were playing cover songs in a dingy club with a crummy PA in their hometown of Dallas, Texas. In a moment of young-musician desperation, they whipped up a tune on the spot called "Three of Us In A Boat" to elongate their set. That became a signature track for a decade-long career wherein the two-piece sold 500,000 records over six albums (two for major label A&M) and toured three continents, nine countries, and 44 states. After a five-year breakup, in 2002 the duo reconvened as Jackopierce. Today Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce have a renewed creative vigor, mutual respect, and deep gratitude for their Jackopierce heritage. These good vibes shine through on JP's euphoric new album, Everywhere All The Time, out August 28.

"If you do the math, you realize we've been reunited longer than we initially were together. We've grown up, we got over a lot of stuff, and we're great friends. It's been over 20 years of friendship," Jack O'Neill says. "It's like a couple getting remarried. The band previously became a job and we started to hate it and hate each other. We have newfound gratitude for each other and we really appreciate what we have," Cary Pierce adds.

JP's latest, Everywhere All The Time, is a charmingly elegant modern pop-rock record with big hooks and a crisp production aesthetic courtesy of Cary Pierce. It's the most emotionally accessible album of the band's career; it's both warmly playful and vulnerably sincere. "It's something I would want to listen to on a summer afternoon at the beach. We said 'Let's just go for it and write fun stuff,'" O'Neill explains. "I get accused of writing the darker stuff, but my life isn't that dark, it's good. If there is an attitude on the record, it's 'we're grateful where we're at and we're gonna have fun with it.'"

"On this record, Cary and I collaborated a lot more. 'Listen To Me' started off like a ballad, but he jacked up the tempo and it became Mark Knopfler-like," O'Neill says of the bluegrass-tinged tune. The track delicately contrasts smoky atmospherics with urgent poise. "It's about making a commitment, open your eyes and don't take things for granted. That's how we view this whole thing," O'Neill reveals. The album balances lushly rustic mid-tempo numbers with beautifully soaring pop-rock. The winsome grace of "Let Go Of Me" is transcendently romantic. "Jerry Maguire is my favorite movie, especially the line, 'You had me at hello.' For this track, it's 'I'm not letting you get rid of me,'" Pierce details. The goosebump-inducing hooks of "Into Me" and "Alright By Me" aptly compliment the tender emotionality of the pensive songs. "Into Me" opens the album and bursts forth endearingly humorous and heartfelt. How many pop-rock love songs reference Vanessa and Denise Huxtable? On "Alright By Me," the giddy name checks continue as Pierce drops People Magazine and Bubblicious gum into the mix. "Every 6 weeks I get a haircut and there is nothing more delicious than having that thirty minutes – me and a stack of People Magazines," Pierce says laughing. "These lyrics are fun, 'her lips all Bubblicious'… the sound is tasty."

During the band's hiatus, Pierce immersed himself in Nashville's rich co-writing scene, and, in addition to sharpening his songwriting chops, he came into his own as a producer. Pierce produced Everywhere All The Time, as well as 2008's country-rock flavored comeback, Promise Of Summer. "This album is different from Promise Of Summer's Mellencamp-esque sounds. For this new record, I brought in younger players so I got fresh perspectives. I learned from the T-Bone Burnett school of production [T-Bone, a 12-time Grammy winner is best known for producing the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, as well as albums by Roy Orbison, John Mellencamp, and Alison Krauss and Robert Plant] to cast the best players and let them do what they do," Pierce says – referencing T Bone's production on their major label debut, "Bringing on the Weather." Most of the album's basics were cut in Nashville with overdub sessions conducted throughout the country while JP was on tour.

It's a time of fertile creativity for the duo, and celebrating the past inspires the guys to move forward in inventive ways. To freshen the live show, Jackopierce have initiated uniquely intimate "Destination Shows." This is a whole new fan experience where people can enjoy gorgeous scenery, delicious food, and campfire performance accessibility to their favorite band. It's a vacation and concert in one. Since debuting these in 2009, the duo have put together 8 of these packages, 7 of these have sold out. The locales have been diversely pastoral, at choice wineries in Sonoma and Martha's Vineyard, as well as bucolic spots like Austin's Star Hill Ranch and the Aspen Mountain Club. "Cary and I found there are people like us that like to go to a vineyard and have a lobster bake and listen to tunes," O'Neill says. "It's a reason to go on vacation and see a band."

To toast the duo's roots, reconciliation, and reinvigoration, JP close Everywhere All The Time with a buoyant reggae-reworking of "Three of us In a Boat." "My joke about our breakup was that Jack couldn't bring himself to play 'Three of Us In a Boat' again," Pierce says with a chuckle. "I definitely went through a phase where I didn't want to play that song," O'Neill affirms. "I grew up loving reggae like Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. I just started playing 'Three of Us' reggae style and fell in love with the tune again," Pierce says. "It's fun to reinvent things. I always loved how Sting would reinvent songs and throw lyrics from different songs into the mix."

Marie Miller:

When Marie Miller writes a song, she does what all gifted writers do: She looks at her life and into her heart to make sure what she creates comes from real emotion and experience.

She also does something none of peers likely do: She searches through classic literature, whether it be Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy or Homer. There, she finds parallels for what she wants to say, channels that inspiration into her lyrics and comes up with something unique: Music that’s immediate and timeless, driven by feelings all listeners can relate to yet infused with a perspective that transcends the present. “I have a song called ‘Story’ on my new album,” she explains, referencing Letterbox, scheduled for release in the spring of 2017 on Curb Records. “It brings in a lot of epic characters: Heathcliff and Catherine from Wuthering Heights, Hector’s wife Andromache from The Iliad. I’ve always loved epic stories — Anna Karenina, The Brothers Karamazov, Crime and Punishment — because they’re filled with relationships that are super serious and dramatic. Sometimes I feel like I’m right there in the midst of them.” Yet Letterbox is no droning lecture on literature. It’s a celebration of freedom. Miller has paid plenty of dues to get to the point where she feels she can write what she wants how she wants to, and sing without constraint. Still young, she has survived years in the music business. She impacted initially with the infectious, “You’re Not Alone.” More than 115,000 downloaded that single on Amazon. ABC’s Dancing with the Stars featured her second single, “6’2,” in 2014.

That’s a success story for sure, one that Miller is grateful to have had. Still, she realized that this was only the first of many steps she needed to take to achieve her goals. Much more than literature feeds into Miller’s unfettered performance on Letterbox. First and most enduring is the foundation she received from being born into a family that loved and performed music. They gravitated toward bluegrass and cultivated Marie’s obvious talent through lessons with banjo virtuoso Murphy Henry. Around age 12 she began singing with her family and later with her sister as a duo, appearing at churches, festivals, community picnics and, every Saturday, on the porch of the winery her father and a partner had opened in rural Virginia, across the road from the Miller family home. Miller also began writing songs when she was about 12 years old. “The first one I started performing was an original melody and lyrics based on a poem I’d read in Lord of the Rings,” she says, with a grin. “I was really into American music at the time — the kind of music you’d hear in a Ken Burns documentary, the people’s music, the storytelling of bluegrass and Irish music. I was attracted initially to the New Grass artists, like Nickel Creek and Alison Krauss and mainly Chris Thile. She pauses and then laughs, a little embarrassed. “I was actually 100 percent certain when I was 14 that Chris Thile and I were going to get married someday.” Miller then found herself diving into the lyrics and melodies from the likes of The Eagles to Stevie Wonder to modern hitmaker Sara Bareilles. This wide range of influences impacted her music making when she signed with Curb Records in Nashville at the age of 16 where she fulfilled her dream to write songs. “I began my life as a traveling musician then,” she says. “I love performing, but it was so uncomfortable to be 16 or 17 and have everybody telling me what to do. I remember one time five people criticized what I was wearing. When you’re 17 years old you’re uncomfortable with yourself already, so to have a bunch of old people talk to you about your clothes, it was just really weird.” Discouraged, Miller returned to Virginia. She took time off from music, went to college for a while, but kept practicing and writing. With a new confidence, she eventually went back to Nashville. Before long she had made her mark in music. And from there, we come to this pivotal moment in her story.

Working with producers Eric Rosse (Sara Bareillis, Tory Amos) and Chad Capelin, Miller moved decisively into a new creative milieu with Letterbox. Begin with the title. “It’s from the Beatles’ song ‘Across the Universe,’” she points out, and then sings the John Lennon lyric: “Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox. Why do these words speak to her? “I still write letters to my friends and to my grandparents and to my boyfriends … when I have them,” she says, smiling. “I’ve discovered that sometimes, when you want to say something, you just can’t. It’s too awkward. So Letterbox is about how I love to write letters but it’s also radically relational, about friendships, parents, a child or romance. It’s about how we affect each other as people.” Miller describes the songs on Letterbox as “almost literal letters to people in my life. ‘Glitter Gold,’ ‘Boardwalk’ and ‘Angeline’ are like letters you leave on someone’s doorstep — teenage, broken-heart messages. ‘More’ is a letter that you never sent. ’Stones You Throw’ is about how the world feels ripples from every little thing we say or do, whether we like it or not. We live constantly in the ripples of other people’s actions, whether they’re from love or hatred.”

The album’s exultant first single, “This Side of Paradise,” which Miller describes as “hopeful and daring” … the promise to wait, in the language of many a folk song, for “the day that I see my own true love again” on “Lonely Ends” … compelling imagery, vocals that whisper and soar, from a lover “Lost at Sea” … Every moment on Letterbox rings true and lingers afterwards, like a memory or a passage from a favorite book. This is the true Marie Miller, breathing in all that life has to offer and crafting it with her own sense of hope, wonder and enchantment. And, in case you’re wondering, “Now, if people tell me what to wear or what to say, I just totally ignore them.” She laughs out loud. It feels good to be free. It feels good to share that freedom through music. With Letterbox, we savor it all, as if delivered to us alone, from a friend not so far away.

Harvest Moon Ceremony

Harvest Moon Ceremony
Event on 2017-09-06 18:30:00
Plant your own intentions and honor the Harvest Moon with this ceremonial outdoor practice! This particular full moon happens to be closest to the autumn equinox and was given its name by the extra light that it gives to farmers to harvest their crops. This extra light was considered a great blessing therefore festivals and celebrations were created around this gift.  We’re gathering to celebrate by setting up a large Autumn-inspired altar space, surrounded by a Reiki-infused energy grid under the full moon. Join psychic medium, holistic healer, and spiritual advisor, Ashely Vingi, owner of Ascension NXT (located in downtown East Greenwich) as she enriches our connection to Mother Earth through Reiki assists within this 90 minute yoga practice, lead by instructor Laura Sarlitto, welcoming all levels of yogis. This practice will consist of not only asana, but also meditation, breath-work, drumming, and chanting. According to Hatha Yoga, the moon’s manifestation power also resides within us. With this particular Harvest Moon, it is a time to turn pain into healing using personal manifestation and communal celebration. We can invoke and pay homage to the lunar energy in nature and within by practicing Chandra Namaskar, or moon salutation, which we will once more revisit in our practice, along with brand new sequencing designed to contribute to this full body prayer in motion. Reiki is administered by placing hands over certain areas of the body where energy needs to be released and transmuted. It also cleans out all of the major chakras and balances out the energy field. It works by gently releasing energy blockages to activate positive cellar changes in the physical body and energy expansion in the higher self. We’re also excited to announce our special guest, Amy Jones, who will be playing a medicine drum live for us in contribution to our practice. For centuries, drumming has been a central part of indigenous cultures worldwide, and is one of the oldest healing methods known to man. As a universal, vibrational language, the drumbeat, as played to the rhythm of the heart, is used by peoples to connect to the Earth and to one another

Vaux's Swifts are using the Chapman Elementary School chimney as an evening roost during their fall migration. Background: Every year in late August, one of Portland's most spectacular natural events begins: Thousands of Vaux's Swifts gather in the city as they prepare to migrate to Central America and Venezuela. Migrating swifts often use chimneys as roosts (places to sleep), and they are likely to return to the same roost year after year. One population has been returning to Chapman since the 1980s, and it is one of the largest known roosting sites of migrating Vaux's Swifts. Swift watching has become a popular activity at Chapman, and on many evenings, more than 2,000 people gather to watch these aerial acrobats. Parking–Free Swift Watch parking is available at Montgomery Park and SELCO Community Credit Union. Do not expect to find on-street parking near the event – please park at Montgomery and SELCO if at all possible.
