CAROLINA by Jessica Klee
Composer / Author / Instructor
Jessica is a graduate from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Music. Immediately upon graduating, Jessica landed a lead singing position for a 14- piece convention band that traveled throughout the United States and various countries. Being involved in dance, theatre and music all her life, Jessica brings her experience into the classroom, where she has taught in public schools for the past 12 years. Working with children inspired her to write stories as a tool in the classroom, which turned into children books.
Aside from writing, teaching and performing, Jessica also composes. Her most recent composition is a Contemporary Ballet called, Carolina, which is a harrowing story of a child abduction. The composition is approximately 25 minutes long and was originally created for piano. The music and storyline to this ballet inspired Jessica to also write the children’s book called, “Abducted.” This book will be available to the public in the spring of 2017 by Legacy Publishing Company. There will also be a CD available with a full recording of the Carolina ballet. Although uncommon to ballets, an aria titled, “Ave Maria” featuring Soprano Julie Batman will be included.
Carolina premieres April 8, 2017 and is presented by Movement Arts Dance & Aerial Studio with Gina Hatch as the Artistic Director – Choreographer.
Victory Martial Arts will also present a demonstration of Self Defense during pre-show, followed by a special treat from Movement Arts Dance & Aerial Studio.
In the Lobby, following the performance, some activities will be provided for all spectators. To name a couple:
1) “Meet the Author” and buy a signed copy of the book, “Abducted.”
2) Speak with a Martial Arts Instructor and learn various safety tips.
Jessica is grateful for all the people involved who helped complete this production. From those involved in taking her piano arrangement to orchestra score, to all of the recording musicians, vocalists, dancers and more.
