Growing up in a philanthropic household, Rob learned the importance of giving back at an early age. His parents were involved locally with many organizations and took pride in serving the community in many capacities. After graduation from Indiana University, Rob returned to Valpo to work in the family business. During those early years at Thorgren Tool & Molding Rob was fortunate enough to serve on many boards himself. It was this early experience of board service that led Rob to want to be as involved as possible on each board he served. Each board experience was unique and provided a varying degree of commitment but one notion seemed to resonate with Rob throughout those experiences: The amount of effort you put into serving a board of directors will directly reflect what you are able to gain from that experience. Today Rob serves on committees and boards with an appreciation for the work each member contributes and believes that any organization with a strong board and executive staff will stand the test of time.
